Band

Gerard Hynes – Vocals
Born on Sydney’s northern beaches, Gerard grew up surfing by day and playing in garage bands by night. Influenced by Australian legends like INXS and Midnight Oil, he honed his powerful stage presence early. After moving to Germany, he busked at Frankfurt’s main station, worked as a lifeguard, and won a karaoke contest with a wild rendition of Elvis’ Heartbreak Hotel. His audition for Ulysses, where he transformed a 12-minute instrumental into Soul Creation, sealed his place as the band’s charismatic frontman. Gerard’s expressive voice and theatrical flair became the emotional centerpiece of Ulysses’ music.

Robert Zoom – Drums, Multi-Instrumentalist
Music runs deep in Robert’s family, from opera composers to rock’n’roll dancers. Exposed to everything from classical and baroque to punk rock and jazz, Robert developed into a versatile musician. He bought his first drum kit at 14, played in punk bands, chamber ensembles, salsa groups, and later taught himself guitar and keyboards. Joining Ulysses in 1992, his dynamic drumming and sharp musical instincts quickly became a cornerstone of the band’s sound. Beyond rhythm, Robert brought compositional ideas and a unique ear for arrangement, giving Ulysses both power and finesse.

Mirko Rudnik – Guitars
A founding member of Ulysses, Mirko met Ender at school in 1987, where their shared love for British prog inspired countless after-school jam sessions. His guitar work combined melodic phrasing with technical precision, often shaping the band’s sonic identity. Known for his resourcefulness — from swapping out van transmissions on tour to late-night studio marathons — Mirko embodied the band’s spirit of grit and creativity. Later, he carried this vision forward as a founding member of Neronia and remains a driving force in Ulysses Resurrection today.

Marc Jost – Vocals, Guitar
When Gerard returned to Australia in 1994, the band faced the impossible task of replacing their frontman. After a series of auditions, Marc emerged as the new voice of Ulysses. His powerful rendition of Teenage Sweethearts convinced the band, and his talents as both a singer and guitarist gave Ulysses a fresh edge. On tour with Pendragon, Marc helped the band win over audiences from Germany to Poland, carrying the torch of Ulysses into a new phase.

Thomas Diehl – Keyboards
A film student with a passion for progressive rock, Thomas brought a cinematic sensibility to Ulysses’ early years. Influenced by keyboard giants from Gentle Giant to Marillion, his textures and harmonies gave depth to the band’s compositions. Thomas also introduced the name Ulysses, anchoring the group’s identity in myth and storytelling. His departure later led to legal issues over the band’s name, prompting the formation of Neronia, but his early role in shaping the Ulysses legacy remains essential.
Note: Thomas is not an active member of Ulysses Resurrection.

Ender Kilic – Bass
Together with Mirko, Ender co-founded Ulysses and laid down the backbone of the band’s sound. His bass lines were fluid yet grounded, giving the band’s complex arrangements both groove and gravity. Ender’s sense of humor and calm presence often balanced the strong personalities within the group. In later years, he remained central to the evolution into Neronia, co-writing material and shaping the band’s direction.
